Hello!
I'm Amy, I live in North Yorkshire and I love to sew! I have done since I was young and have spent more hours than I can count sat behind my sewing machine or with a needle and thread in my hand.
I love to be creative and see the fruits of my labour at the end of each day, so when I got the opportunity to go part time in my day job in 2020, I started my Dress By Amy journey by selling handmade children's clothes at artisan markets in and around my local area.
Although I loved the market experience, I realised that what makes me most happy is making clothes for myself; developing my personal style through dressmaking and sharing the knowledge that I have built up over the years to help others who are learning to sew and make their own clothes.
So this blog is a creative outlet for all those things. A record of the garments I make, the patterns I use, the dressmaking inspiration that I discover but also a place for beginner sewers and seamstresses to come for help and guidance in their own sewing journey.
Expect to see beginner sewing and dressmaking tutorials, DIY projects, sew-alongs and dressmaking pattern reviews with the odd bit of dressmaking, fashion and textile inspiration sprinkled in!
