How To Sew A Hanging Heart

Learn How To Sew A Hanging Heart In A Few Easy Steps!

Here's what you'll need:

  1. Small fabric scraps

  2. Matching thread

  3. A ribbon (approximately 25cms long)

  4. Wadding / toy stuffing

  5. A sewing machine

  6. A hand sewing needle

  7. Paper and pen

Here's how to do it:

  • Draw yourself a heart onto a piece of paper and cut it out

  • Use that template to draw around and cut out two heart shapes from your piece of fabric

  • Cut a piece of ribbon that is approximately  9 to 10 inches long - about 25cms

  • Place the hearts right sides together and pin around the edge leaving a gap which is about

2 inches (5 cms) long down one side

  • Fold your ribbon in half

  • And insert it in-between the two hearts with the loop inside and the two raw edges just poking out of the top between the two rounded parts

  • Sew around the heart shapes with a quarter of an inch seam allowance, back stitching at each end

  • Turn the heart right sides out through the gap that you left

  • Now take some wadding,  break off small pieces and stuff them into the heart you have made until its completely full

  • Finally, make sure the seam allowance is tucked inside and then close up the gap with some small ladder stitches

  • And there’s your lovely hanging heart
