Welcome to part 8 of my button series. Here I'm showing you how I use my Janome Atelier 7 sewing machine to sew on a button.
Select the button function on the digital screen.
Change your foot to Foot T. It clips onto the presserfoot lifter around the back and the front.
Take your fabric and button and lower the needle into the lefthand hole using the hand-wheel.
Lower the presser foot to keep the button in place and make sure that the holes of the buttons are aligned and sitting next to each other.
Raise the needle using the hand-wheel until the needle swings to the right. If the needle is not aligned above the right-hand hole, then press the plus or minus keys to correct it.
Press the start button and watch the machine sew the button! It will stop automatically when its complete.
Remove the fabric from the machine and cut your threads with a 10 cm tail and secure them on the back of the fabric.
If your fabric is quite thick, you may need to use the button shank plate which you'll find in the accessories drawer of the sewing machine.
